Department Visitor Parking Permits
Department visitor permits are designed to help departments accommodate visitors with ease and efficiency while ensuring compliance with university policies. Each department can request up to 25 permits at a time, valid until August 31 of each year. These permits allow visitors to park in designated areas on campus for a single day.
What Are Department Visitor Parking Permits?
Department Visitor Parking Permits are temporary, single-day parking passes available to departments at both the Blacksburg and Alexandria campus locations. They are ideal for:
- Welcoming guest speakers or lecturers
- Hosting departmental meetings with external participants
- Accommodating visitors for special events or collaborations
By using these permits, departments can ensure a smooth and professional parking experience for their guests.
How Does the Process Work?
To make it as easy as possible, we’ve streamlined the process into clear, actionable steps. Once your department completes the required forms and submits payment, permits can be processed and picked up promptly. Details about valid parking locations and proper usage ensure that everyone has a positive experience. Due to the large volume of requests, once payment is received, we do ask for a minimum of 7-10 business days to process the permits.

Encourage Guests to Use ParkMobile for Convenient Parking Payment
For university departments that don’t cover parking fees, ParkMobile offers an easy and contactless way for guests to pay. This mobile app allows visitors to pay for parking using their smartphones, eliminating the need for cash or physical tickets.
ParkMobile provides convenience by allowing guests to quickly pay and even extend parking time remotely. It also improves the visitor experience by removing parking hassles, making their visit smoother. To encourage use, departments can include ParkMobile information in event invitations and emails to inform guests about the app. Offering assistance for guests unfamiliar with the app and highlighting its convenience and flexibility can also help ensure its adoption.
By promoting Parkmobile, departments can help guests manage their parking easily while keeping the process efficient and contactless.
