Permits

This permit is available for graduate students living off campus, in Main Campbell, Payne, or in the Oak Lane Community.

Purchasing Permits

Permits may be purchased online or at the Office of Parking and Transportation. Permits may be purchased annually, for a semester at a time, or on a daily basis, depending on a number of circumstances and the time of year. Prices change each year and are posted each year in July when the new annual year permits go on sale.

For in-person sales, drivers must bring their Hokie Passport and vehicle registration and are advised to fill out the registration form in advance to save time.

Teaching Assistant Permits

Students with Graduate Teaching Assistant appointments are eligible for parking privileges on days when their responsibilities require consistently being present during regular scheduled class meeting times or labs, or class related office hours of at least three hours in duration on any given day. TA permits may be used for a full day on these days, for up to three days a week. A Graduate permit must be purchased and displayed along with a TA permit. There is a $5 replacement charge on permits that are lost or stolen.

Parking

This permit allows parking in all areas listed in all designated commuter sections. In addition to this, graduate students who qualify for a Teaching Assistant permit (Teaching Assistants should see their department for details) are allowed to park in the TA spaces designated by signs in the Prices Fork Lot, Perry Street Lot, and C–Lot.

A few lots are restricted for faculty/staff 24 hours a day, seven days a week. These include the Owens and Dietrick Dining Hall Lots, the basketball practice facility, and basketball extension lot.
